SAN FRANCISCONov. 20, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — HoundDog.ai today announced that Replit has integrated the company’s AI-powered code scanner to embed privacy into its app-generation workflow.

HoundDog.ai  is building a privacy-focused code scanner that empowers organizations to detect sensitive data exposures early in development. Replit is the AI app-generation platform used by more than 45+ million creators worldwide. Replit, known for generating full-stack, production-ready applications with minimal technical input, is an innovator in making AI development accessible and safe for everyone.

After integrating with Semgrep earlier this year to detect security vulnerabilities such as SQL injection risks and outdated dependencies, Replit is now taking the next step by scanning for privacy risks from the very beginning of app creation with HoundDog.ai.

With the integration, Replit users may automatically see third-party and AI

integrations that are built into the code they create. They may also follow the paths of sensitive data through logs, files, local storage, third-party SDKs, and AI connectors. Last but not least, customers can fix any privacy leaks they find with just one click. The approach uses the same AI agent that Replit users already use to correct security holes, so searching for privacy issues is easy.

“Many app developers have a hard time figuring out where private information goes when their code is made. “Our integration with Replit gives users instant visibility and automated privacy controls without technical burden,” stated Amjad Afanah, CEO and co-founder of HoundDog.ai.

“AI makes it easier to build software, but it also adds new responsibilities. We’re making sure that privacy isn’t an afterthought by building it into HoundDog.ai from the very beginning. “Every creator on Replit should have the tools to understand privacy and security for their AI-generated apps,” said Jeff Burke, Head of Partnerships at Replit.

AI Code Generation in a World Where Data Is Important

More and more AI-generated apps are now equipped to manage sensitive information including Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and Protected Health Information (PHI). Many designers, such as doctors, financial analysts, and lawyers, may not think about following GDPR, HIPAA, or U.S. privacy laws at first. Dr. Fahim Hussain of Northern Health, for instance, utilized Replit to make a healthcare app in just a few days. This shows how powerful and responsible AI-driven app design can be.

As more people start using these apps, following the rules and keeping data safe become more important. Sharing sensitive data in plaintext in logs or files, or with third parties outside of specified data processing agreements, can quickly cause privacy problems that need to be fixed. Replit users may now find hazards ahead of time and start building privacy compliance into their workflow from day one by adding HoundDog.ai’s privacy scanner directly into the app development process.

Setting Higher Standards for Trust and Openness

With the HoundDog.ai integration, privacy and security are now two of the most important parts of Replit’s platform. This project builds user trust in addition to being compliant.

From Making Code to Protecting Privacy

“Privacy should never be an afterthought. “By adding HoundDog.ai to Replit’s workflow, we’re helping every creator find and fix privacy problems from the start,” stated Amjad Masad, CEO and cofounder of Replit.

The first part of this integration is all about finding and fixing leaks of sensitive data. These can be logs, prompts, or files that show SSNs, passwords, or other PII in plain text. In future versions, Replit wants to add live data flow maps that go straight into Records of Processing Activities (RoPA), Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA), and other documents that are required by privacy laws.

These features will help non-technical app makers who use AI to make apps follow privacy rules. As Replit grows into markets where hundreds of developers work on thousands of repositories, HoundDog.ai’s evidence-based data maps will help automate one of the most time-consuming parts of managing privacy. You can’t scale manual tracking with spreadsheets or questionnaires. HoundDog.ai’s features will assist Replit customers keep up with the speed of development and stay compliant more consistently.

About HoundDog.ai:

HoundDog.ai’s Privacy by Design Code Scanner helps businesses find and stop sensitive data from being shared too much in risky places where it could lead to privacy violations. The scanner builds privacy into every part of the development process, from the IDE to the CI. It finds third-party and AI integrations, like shadow AI, and looks for Personally Identifiable Information (PII), Protected Health Information (PHI), and authentication tokens in LLM prompts and other places that are often missed, like logs, files, and third-party SDKs. It also blocks unapproved data types before code goes into production and makes Records of Processing Activities (RoPA) and Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA) that are ready for an audit and already have detected data flows and privacy risks.
