Surfshark’s Multi IP and upgraded rotating IP take online privacy to the next level

Surfshark, a cybersecurity company and leading VPN provider, introduces a new Multi IP feature together with an upgraded rotating IP that elevates your online privacy. While rotating IP changes your IP (Internet Protocol) address automatically every five minutes, depending on your chosen location globally, the Multi IP feature routes your traffic to every session or website via a separate IP.

Karolis Kaciulis, the Leading System Engineer at Surfshark, says that Multi IP is the first solution of its kind in the business that lets consumers send internet traffic to any destination using a different IP address.

“Our team wanted to step up and come up with new ways to help people who want the best possible online privacy in today’s world, where online privacy is becoming more and more important.” By adding Multi IP and updating rotating IP, we let users decide how their traffic is sent. Kaciulis said, “This lets them choose different levels of online privacy while making it much harder for third parties to track their online activity.”

What is Surfshark’s Multi IP?

Multi IP is a one-of-a-kind solution that lets you regulate the traffic of each session or website by giving each one its own IP address. You can modify your IP address in your chosen location, region, or throughout the world with this tool.

“Usually, when someone connects to a VPN, they leave the VPN through one IP address. The same IP address is used for all of the device’s traffic. The user’s IP address will keep the same whether they access a webpage or an app, unless they disconnect and reconnect. Surfshark’s Multi IP takes a different method. “During the same VPN session, each resource online will be accessed through a different IP address,” Kaciulis explained.

“If the user chooses a country, they will get different IP addresses from that country. If customers choose a region or global option, their IPs will be chosen from that region (like the EU) or from anywhere in the world, accordingly.

What is Surfshark’s Rotating IP?

Rotating IP changes your IP address every five minutes in the nation, region, or around the world that you want. A VPN encrypts your traffic and hides your IP address, which makes it safer. Rotating IP is a more advanced way to protect your privacy and keep your identity secret.

It does everything a VPN does, but it also changes your IP address every five minutes, which makes it much harder to track what you do online.

Why is this important?

Changing your IP address with Multi IP or rotating IP makes it considerably harder for anyone who want to spy on you to find out what you’re doing online. It also protects privacy by making it harder to connect users to a single identity by making it look like their actions come from numerous IPs over time. Rotating IPs makes it harder for advertisers and data brokers to connect visits to the same site. Also, monitoring across sites becomes less effective with new IPs, which makes it harder to create profiles and reach targeted adverts.

Kaciulis said that both options give people who want the most privacy online more anonymity and safety for their data. Users should bear in mind, though, that choosing the global IP option in Multi IP may change how they use the internet every day. This is because changing IP addresses often can make some websites or apps not load or work properly.

For now, macOS users of Surfshark can improve their privacy by turning on Multi IP and an improved rotating IP in the Advanced settings. These are not the default settings and are meant for people who want the most privacy online.

Rotating IP is a significant aspect of Surfshark’s own Nexus SDN, which also has outstanding capabilities like FastTrack and Everlink. It works with Multi IP connectivity.
